Who are we!

Our Mission Statement

The Fraternal Order of Eagles is an international non-profit organization uniting fraternally in the spirit of liberty, truth, justice, and equality, to make human life more desirable by lessening its ills and promoting peace, prosperity, gladness and hope. The F.O.E. donates more than $10 million a year to local communities, fundraisers, charities and more. As part of its philosophy, the F.O.E. gives back 100 percent of monies raised in the form of grants. Fundraisers are conducted for eight major charities, including kidney, heart, diabetes, cancer and spinal cord injury funds, a children's fund, memorial foundation and the Golden Eagle Fund.

Our History

The F.O.E. was founded in February, 1898 by six theatre owners gathered in a Seattle shipyard to discuss a musician's strike. After addressing the matter, they agreed to "bury the hatchet" and form "The Order of Good Things." As numbers grew, members selected the Bald Eagle as the official emblem and changed the name to "The Fraternal Order of Eagles." The women's auxiliary traces its roots to 1927. The Fraternal Order of Eagles includes nearly 800,000 members and more than 1,500 locations across the United States and Canada. Stop by one of our locations and see why we're known as People Helping People.

F.O.E. Charity Foundation

Eagles Give 100%

The Fraternal Order of Eagles believes every penny donated to our Charity Foundation should benefit the individuals who need it most - that's why we return 100% of all funds raised in the form of grants. While many charities are using your donations to help offset a variety of administrative costs, we use membership dues to cover those costs to ensure your full donation is being used to make a difference in the lives of the men, women and children in need.

About the Foundation

The F.O.E. Charity Foundation hosts a variety of funds - each dedicated to a specific cause - which collect donations from our nearly 3,000 Aeries and Auxiliaries for the purposes of awarding grants to local and/or international organizations dedicated to research and patient care.In compliance with our promise to use 100% of all donations for the intended purpose, grant recipients are required to prove that no portion of the grant received will be used to fund administrative costs. Each year our members help give nearly $10 million to community and nationwide organizations helping better lives and donate countless hours of their time to a wide array of fundraisers.Since 1898, the F.O.E. has worked to establish a philanthropic legacy, becoming the first organization to donate $1 million to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, donating several hundred thousand in aid to help solidify the Truman Cardiovascular Lab and Heart Fund Research Lab at Sutton Medical Research Foundation, and our crown jewel - the $25 million Fraternal Order of Eagles Diabetes Research Center at the University of Iowa.Eagles are giving people and our Charity Foundation is a perfect representation of why we're known throughout the world as "People Helping People."
